Overview
The Flowmaster American Thunder Cat-back Exhaust System is a bolt-on performance upgrade engineered for the 2004-2015 Nissan Titan equipped with the 5.6L engine. Designed to connect directly to the factory cat pipes, this complete cat-back system replaces the restrictive stock plumbing with large dual 2.50-inch mandrel-bent aluminized tubing that improves flow and unlocks the sound and performance the Titan was built for. Every component is engineered to work together, from the Scavenger Series Y-pipe to the 70 Series Big Block II muffler and polished stainless tips.
Scavenger Series Y-Pipe Technology
At the heart of the system is the Scavenger Series Y-pipe, which creates a stronger exhaust signal than conventional y-pipes by using two D-shaped ports back to back. This design provides a larger surface area than two round pipes simply joined together, producing a much stronger scavenging effect that helps evacuate the cylinders during the exhaust stroke. The result is more power, more torque, and a deep, unique tone — added torque that is especially valuable when towing your Titan.
Sound and Muffler
The Scavenger Y-collector feeds into a 70 Series Big Block II performance muffler (muffler part number 530702, included), delivering a deep, powerful sound outside the vehicle while keeping a moderate, comfortable tone inside the cab. It’s an aggressive presence on the road without droning out the driver, striking a balance that daily-driven and tow-duty trucks will appreciate.
Tailpipe Options and Tips
The mandrel-bent dual tailpipes can be configured to exit either out the sides behind the rear tires — ideal for towing — or straight out the back under the rear bumper for a muscular look. Each configuration is finished with a pair of 3.00-inch polished stainless steel tips embossed with the Flowmaster name, adding a clean, purposeful appearance to the rear of the truck.
Fitment and Installation
This system is built specifically for the 2004-2015 Nissan Titan 5.6L in 2WD configuration. It utilizes the factory hanger locations and connections for a straightforward, bolt-up installation. The system is CARB (California) compliant with Emission Code 5, making it a legal upgrade in California. Please note the California Proposition 65 warning applies, a heat shield is not included, and the pipe finish is silver aluminized tubing.
