The Flowmaster American Thunder Cat-back Exhaust System is engineered for the driver who wants maximum performance and improved off-road ground clearance from a 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK. This complete cat-back system replaces the restrictive factory transverse muffler and relocates the proven Super HP-2 muffler behind the factory catalytic converter, freeing up flow while delivering a moderate to aggressive exhaust note that matches the Jeep’s attitude on and off the trail.
Built around a mandrel-bent 2.50-inch stainless steel tailpipe, the American Thunder system promotes smooth, unrestricted exhaust flow from the muffler outlet to the rear of the vehicle. It is finished with a 3.00-inch polished stainless steel tip that is tucked up high under the rear bumper, keeping the exhaust out of harm’s way when the terrain gets serious.
Sound and Performance
At the heart of this kit is the Super HP-2 muffler, tuned to produce a moderate-to-aggressive tone. It adds a purposeful growl under acceleration without droning your daily drive into submission, striking the balance that so many Wrangler owners are after. Because the muffler is repositioned behind the catalytic converter and the tailpipe is routed up high, you gain valuable ground clearance for rocks, ruts, and obstacles.
Fitment
This system is designed for the 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK and fits both 2-door and 4-door models equipped with either the 3.8L or 3.6L engine. It is a 2WD-oriented cat-back configuration in the Exhaust and Tail Pipes category, and it is CARB (California) compliant with Emission Code 5, making it a legal upgrade in emissions-controlled states. Because the tailpipe is tucked up so high for clearance, an aftermarket metal bumper is recommended to complement the routing.
