Mishimoto engineered this forced induction piping kit specifically to address the bends, narrow diameters, and degradation-prone materials found in the stock FOST setup, freeing up the flow of charged air through the entire induction system.
At the heart of this forced induction upgrade is a redesigned hot-side pipe that eliminates the turbo muffler and reduces the number of bends found on the factory piping, giving air a more direct path from the turbo to the intercooler. The mandrel-bent aluminum pipe has an inner diameter increased to 2.5 inches, delivering a 14-percent increase in volume and up to a 26-percent greater flow over the stock hot-side equipment. On the cold side, the degradation-prone factory rubber has been replaced with a 5-layer silicone pipe reinforced with heat-resistant fibers and a steel wire core to hold its shape under load, contributing a 10-percent increase in volume over the stock cold-side pipe. Sturdy silicone couplers replace the factory rubber connections for a solid seal between piping and intercooler, and together the kit produces a 21-percent increase in flow over stock piping. When paired with the full Mishimoto Performance Intercooler and Mishimoto Performance intake, Focus ST owners can see an additional 8hp and 10ft/lb of torque on top of intake and intercooler gains over the stock tune.
