Built as an axle-back exhaust system, this SwitchPath™ edition retains the M5’s factory mid-section and comes in right at the rear axle, maintaining a 3″ tubing diameter while shaving weight from the rear of the car. It’s a purpose-engineered performance exhaust designed to deliver a more engaging soundtrack without sacrificing the drivability BMW owners expect.
Because this is a valved catback-capable platform, the AWE SwitchPath™ retains the factory valve behavior, giving you the ability to enjoy an aggressive tone or a more composed cruise depending on how you drive. Modular Configuration
AWE engineered the M5 Exhaust Suite as a completely modular setup. Choose the axle-back on its own today, then add the separately available AWE Performance Mid Pipes whenever you’re ready. Those mid pipes replace the factory mid-section with a 3″ stainless steel X-pipe and mate to the factory axle-back—or to the AWE axle-back to create a full catback exhaust. Add the configuration that fits your goals to your cart and roar away, with the freedom to expand later.
Fitment
This kit is engineered for the 2018-2023 BMW M5 Sedan (4.4L, AWD) and is backed by AWE’s Fit Guarantee. Please note the important fitment details: if you’re equipping the Performance Mid Pipes or the Axle Back on their own, cutting will be required. When the Performance Mid Pipes and Axle Back are installed together, no cutting is needed. No tune is required and there’s a No CEL guarantee, making this a straightforward way to shop for exhaust upgrades on your M5.
