Description
Overview
The FASS XWS1002 Extreme Water Separator is a precision-engineered diesel fuel filter designed to protect your fuel system from the destructive effects of water and contamination. Rated at 2 microns absolute, this newer, more efficient water separator delivers exceptional filtration performance to keep your injectors, pump, and downstream components clean and running strong. When it comes to a reliable fuel filter replacement for your diesel setup, the XWS1002 is built to deliver.
Unlike older-style separators, the XWS1002 features a drain-free design. The reason it no longer has a drain is because the filter element itself traps the water, capturing moisture directly within the media so it never reaches your engine. This streamlined approach simplifies changing the fuel filter and removes the maintenance headache of manually draining accumulated water.
Key Benefits
Water intrusion is one of the leading causes of diesel fuel system failure, and this diesel fuel filter is engineered specifically to combat it. The 2-micron absolute rating means fine particulates and water are trapped before they can cause wear, corrosion, or costly injector damage. For anyone weighing the fuel filter change cost against the price of injector repairs, proactive filtration with the XWS1002 is a smart investment.
- 2 microns absolute filtration rating for superior contaminant control

Compatibility & Installation
The new XWS1002 must be used in conjunction with the PF3001XL. Importantly, these new filters cannot be used in combination with the older FF-1003 or FS-1001 elements. When replacing the discontinued filters with the new XWS1002 and PF3001XL, take note of the updated configuration: the XWS1002 is now placed on the pressure side of the system, while the PF3001XL is placed on the suction side. Getting this orientation correct is essential to proper operation and optimal water separation.
Whether you’re performing a scheduled fuel filter replacement or upgrading from discontinued components, following the correct pressure-side and suction-side placement ensures your FASS system continues to protect your diesel fuel like it should. This makes the fuel filter diesel change process straightforward for those familiar with FASS platforms.
Fitment
The FASS XWS1002 Extreme Water Separator is designed for Truck/SUV applications running a compatible FASS Fuel Systems setup. Always confirm your system is configured for the XWS1002 and PF3001XL pairing before installation to guarantee correct fitment and performance.
