The Mishimoto 2015-2016 WRX Baffled Oil Catch Can System (MMBCC-WRX-15SBE) is a two-can oil catch can setup engineered specifically for the FA20-DIT direct-injection engine in the Subaru WRX. Built from 100-percent billet 6061 aluminum and finished in black anodized detail, this kit was designed to reduce the carbon buildup that direct fuel injection engines are prone to, keeping the intake tract cleaner over time.
Direct injection engines route PCV and CCV air back into the intake, carrying oil vapor along with it and depositing carbon on valves over time. This Mishimoto system separates oil particles from that PCV/CCV air before it ever reaches the intake. An internal air diverter turbulates the air longer inside each can so oil sinks to the bottom instead of passing through, while an internal baffle keeps that collected oil from splashing around under hard cornering or race conditions. Clean air then passes through a 50-micron bronze filter on its way back into the engine. By intercepting oil blow-by before it reaches the intercooler and intake system, this catch can setup also helps maintain proper octane levels and reduce the potential for detonation, protecting core car engine parts and other components of an automobile engine that see oily air-flow.
