The Mishimoto Direct-Fit Oil Cooler Kit (MMOC-CTR-17TBK) was engineered specifically for the FK8-chassis Honda Civic Type R and its K20C1 engine, adding a 19-row air-to-air oil cooler to a factory cooling system that Mishimoto’s engineers identified as a weak point once the car sees track use or an aggressive tune. Finished in black with an anodized surface, this kit is built to take the heat off the stock liquid-to-liquid unit rather than replace it entirely.

This Mishimoto oil cooler kit is designed to lower oil temperatures by 15°F by routing oil through a dedicated bar-and-plate cooler mounted behind the FK8’s aero-centric front bumper, where it can take advantage of natural airflow. Application-specific brackets hold the cooler in place while preserving airflow to the front wheel well, and the oil is carried to and from the core through stainless steel braided lines fitted with -AN hardware for a secure, direct-fit installation. Because the kit retains the factory liquid-to-liquid cooler and adds a thermostatic sandwich plate, it’s built to guard against overcooling while still giving the K20C1 the extra thermal headroom it needs when temperatures climb.
