Description

The Mishimoto Performance Intercooler Kit, part number MMINT-STNGR-18BK, is a complete turbo-to-throttle-body overhaul of the factory forced induction system on the Lambda II GDI 3.3T. Mishimoto tossed the stock tube-and-fin core and plastic end tanks in favor of a bar-and-plate core TIG-welded to cast aluminum end tanks, then reworked every pipe and coupler in between for a genuine performance induction upgrade rather than a cosmetic swap.

This kit exists because the factory intercooling system was identified as a bottleneck on an otherwise strong platform, so Mishimoto engineered a forced induction turbo cooling solution built around a 94-percent larger core volume and a 74-percent increase in external fin surface area. The aluminum piping keeps a factory-style look but grows to a 3-inch inner diameter for improved flow with minimal pressure drop, and the hot-side piping merger manifold was reworked with 2-inch inlets and a 3-inch outlet for a 51-percent increase in flow straight out of the turbos. On the dyno, that translated to a 29-degree F drop in intercooler outlet temperature and gains of 8 whp and 8 wtq on stock tuning, with a stage 1 map tune pushing the temperature drop to 41 degrees F and adding another 6 whp and 8 wtq on top of the tune. Every piping section is finished in a micro-wrinkle black powder coat and linked with 5-layer silicone couplers, and the whole induction system remains compatible with the stock recirculation valves.
