Engineered specifically for the 2018–2023 BMW M5 Sedan (4.4L, AWD), the AWE Tuning SwitchPath™ Exhaust System Kit brings valve-controlled sound and reduced rear weight to one of BMW’s most iconic super-sedans. In axle-back form, the SwitchPath™ retains the M5’s factory mid-section, coming in right at the rear axle while maintaining a full 3″ diameter throughout. This is a purpose-built performance exhaust that delivers on both attitude and engineering integrity, giving you a car exhaust upgrade worthy of the M5 platform.
Because it retains the factory valve behavior, the SwitchPath™ Axle Back preserves the daily-driving refinement you expect from the M5 while unlocking a more aggressive character when you want it. It’s a valved exhaust system that respects the OEM experience but sheds weight from the rear, sharpening the car’s balance without requiring a tune.
Modular by Design
AWE engineered the Exhaust Suite for the M5 as a completely modular configuration. Start with the SwitchPath™ Axle Back today, then add the separately available AWE Performance Mid Pipes at any time to replace the factory mid section with a 3″ stainless steel X-pipe. Mated to the factory axle back — or the AWE Axle Back — the Performance Mid Pipes create a full catback exhaust. Tips & Finish
All tip options use AWE’s 4″ slash-cut design, feature the AWE logo, and are double-walled to ensure a mirror finish even under hard usage. Finished in Chrome Silver, each of the four tips is individually adjustable, letting you set depth into the bumper according to personal taste for a factory-integrated look that’s dialed to your preference.

Fitment Notes
This exhaust system kit is built for the 2018–2023 BMW M5 Sedan with the 4.4L engine and AWD. Please note: if you’re equipping the Performance Mid Pipes or an Axle Back on their own, cutting will be required. The Performance Mid Pipes and Axle Back installed together will not require cutting. With AWE’s Fit Guarantee backing every configuration, you can build the exact catback exhaust setup you want, when you’re ready.
